Ms. Sylvie

Owner, Centre Manager, Licensed Early Childhood Educator


Sylvie is the co-owner, and Centre Manager of Cream of the Crop Childcare. Originally from Quebec she has over 40 years experience working with children. She is a mature, nurturing teacher who is passionate about quality childcare and education.

She has worked mainly with children 3-5yrs and school-aged as well as children with developmental special needs. She is known for her creativity, ability to soothe and guide behaviour, and implementing individual learning opportunities.

Ms. Sylvie is responsible for crafting the curriculum and programming at Cream of the Crop. She is a mother herself and grandmother to three grand-kids and a grand-dog. Sylvie is bilingual, loves anything outdoors including skiing and camping, and also loves animals and reading.

She is excited to bring top-notch education to the children of Cream of the Crop Childcare.

Ms. Sukhi

Supervisor and Preschool Teacher, Licensed ECE


Sukhi has been teaching in the Early Childhood Education field for the past 7 years. Her main focus has been in preschool and in creating excellent curriculum for children. Additionally, she has enjoyed assisting with children who have needed extra guidance and support. She was the centre’s first preschool teacher and has most recently joined the 3yr-5yr room, sharing her knowledge and expertise with staff as well as providing exceptional care to the children.

She is a patient, caring and extroverted person who enjoys engaging in conversations with her peers and children to help them reach any goals they have set. With her flair for creativity and detail, Ms. Sukhi puts together wonderful activities and crafts for the children.

In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, exploring the outdoors and listening to music alongside her husband and her two sons. She is extremely elated to be a part of Cream of the Crop Childcare.

Ms. Andy

Licensed Early Childhood Educator Assistant, One-on-one Support


Ms. Andy is originally from Brazil, where she majored in Psychology and worked as a Human Resource professional for 11 years. She is also a certified ECEA by the AMI – Association Montessori Internationale in Canada. With a background in people-oriented roles, she has a great focus in communication and conflict resolution. She has learned to be an attentive listener, while also being very patient and calm. This skill set is very helpful while working with children and helps to better understand their behavioural development.

She admires the power of children’s imagination and the fantastic stories that they are capable of creating. She believes that this is one of their main tools to express their emotions and needs. Focusing on keeping an extremely loving and positive attitude, she is always ready to engage with children in a positive and constructive way.

In her spare time, she really enjoys spending time with her husband and son playing board games, watching movies at home and traveling when possible.

 

Ms. Lia

Licensed Early Childhood Educator


Ms. Lia completed her Early Childhood Education program at Vancouver Career College and has over 15 years of experience working with young children. Ms.Lia first started teaching young children in Sunday school and later on worked in daycare and preschool settings.

Ms. Lia is passionate about working with young children and implementing activities that foster their emotional, social and physical development. Ms.Lia believes children learn the best through hands-on activities such as crafts and science experiments—where children are encouraged to learn through exploration.

When Ms. Lia is not working, she fills her time by doing crafts, journaling, going to the gym, hiking and cooking with her family.

Ms. Maiya

Licensed Early Childhood Educator


Maiya completed her Early Childhood Education program at Vancouver Career College and has over a year of experience. After teaching Sunday school, Maiya learned that she had a love for working with children and had a desire to pursue a career.

After finishing her program, Maiya moved to England and worked in a daycare for 6 months. She loved the experience and seeing what childcare was like in a different part of the world! Maiya believes that children learn best through play and encourages child-lead learning. Her favourite thing about working in childcare is seeing the joy and excitement in the children when they accomplish something new. She is happy to be a part of Cream of the Crop and continues to learn more every day.

Maiya’s favourite things to do in her spare time include reading, baking/cooking, spending time with friends/family and traveling the world!  

 

Ms. Karman

Licensed Early Childhood Educator


Karman completed her early childhood education assistant program from Coastal college of British Columbia. She is currently studying for her full ECE license. Additionally, she holds a diploma in psychology.

Prior to her education and joining Cream of the Crop, Karman has experience taking care of children from her home town in India.

Since joining COTC, she has worked hard to build new skills and form bonds with all the children in her care.

Karman believes that positivity can help children reach their full potential and is especially excited for the role of after-school teacher. She particularly enjoys preparing and delivering engaging activities that are fun and help the kids develop their own skills.

In her spare time, she loves cooking, reading, and spending time with her cousins in Abbotsford.

 

 

 

Ms. Maddy

Support Worker, Early Childhood Educator Assistant


Maddy is currently studying Child and Youth Care at the University of the Fraser Valley and has her Early Childhood Education Assistant’s license. She has worked with children for five years and is back at Cream of the Crop after having taken some time off for practicums. She was recently a mentor herself after having been mentored through the HSCEP programme by Big Brothers & Big Sisters and UFV.

In addition to working with Cream of the Crop, she has previously worked at the Chilliwack YMCA and also as a volunteer in elementary schools for two years. Her long-term goal is to be a Child and Youth Care Practitioner in elementary schools. She believes that children learn best through play and her main goal at the centre is to see the children smile.

Ms. Maddy has a growing interest in working with children who have special needs and is comfortable working with all ages. She is excited to continue to bring youthful perspective to the centre to better connect with the children and build strong relationships.

Ms. Jennifer

Owner, Director, Administrator


Jennifer is co-owner and Director of Cream of the Crop Childcare with over 20 years working with children and 12 years as a leader in Management. She holds a degree and a diploma in music and has taught music and movement in preschools.  Throughout her career she has been recognized as a leader and has been a recipient of several awards including Branch Manager of the year for the BCSPCA. Since it’s opening, Cream of the Crop has won Platinum and Gold year after year for Childcare Services in Chilliwack  (see our testemonial page). Jennifer was nominated for “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” by the Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce in 2019 and the centre won “New Business of the Year” in 2020.

Jennifer holds her Early Childhood Educators Assistant’s license and excelled in Guiding and Caring Behaviour.  A mother to two neuro-diverse children, she is passionate about teaching educators a calm, loving and modern approach to caring for children of all abilities. She loves animals, reading, writing, painting and has sung professionally as a soloist and in choirs across the world.

She currently resides in the Okanagan with her children, husband and senior dog.
