About us

Cream of the Crop is an enriched learning and childcare centre that uses emergent teaching, play based learning and developmentally appropriate practices. We are a brand-new, modern, progressive childcare centre and we are passionate about taking care of our staff, and clients in addition to provide the best care possible for children.

We believe in child-led learning while following a detailed curriculum full of hands-on, get-messy, creative fun! Our nanny-cams will be on at all times during operation hours to give parents full peace of mind. We expect all member’s of our team to be honest, patient and kind caregivers who remain consistent in their care whether cameras are on or off.

Early Childhood Educator (ECE)

Job type: Permanent Vacancy

Description
Implement curriculum and programme as designed. Assist lead teacher/owner in supervising staff.  

Responsibilities

  • Assuming supervisory role during owner’s absence
  • Communicate with parents, resolve conflict when necessary.
  • Follow and supervise execution of Cream of the Crop Programming, Curriculum and Care Plans
  • Model behaviour and ensure all staff uphold Cream of the Crop Standards at all times
  • Assist in creating developmental plans for each child
  • Maintain detailed notes and records on each child
  • Light Administrative work as necessary
  • Assist in preparing, executing emergency preparedness drills monthly
  • Prepare/set out activities
  • Supervise play and engage in activities
  • Monitor/prepare breakfasts, snack or lunch as needed
  • Light house keeping & cleaning
  • Toileting/diapering
  • Other duties as required

Requirements

  • Hold valid ECE Certification
  • Hold a valid emergency child care first aid certificate and AED Training
  • Current criminal record check
  • Must be able to lift 45+ pounds, reach high and low, bend, kneel, stand for long periods.
  • Physically fit enough to play and walk/run outdoors every day, rain or shine.
  • Speak, read and write English
  • Self-aware and able to recognize when you need to “tap out” and ask for support.
  • Honest, dependable, patient
  • Creative, flexible
  • Coachable and willing to learn
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Attendance at regular staff meetings and participation in ongoing training
  • Willing to be recorded during business hours. Our nanny cams will be live-streaming to parents.

Assets

  • Food Safe or willing to attend
  • Able to speak, write, read French or another language
  • Musical
  • Cooking/baking skills

Responsible Adult – Before/Afterschool Programme

Description
Supervise before and/or after school care of children aged 5yrs-10yrs and provide transportation to and from school. Follow direction from ECEAs and ECEs and provide housekeeping support to the centre as needed.

Responsibilities 

  • Plan, Prepare, set out activities
  • Afterschool pick up/morning drop off
  • Supervise and engage in activities
  • Assist with homework as needed
  • Set out and supervise afterschool snack
  • Maintain detailed notes and records on each child
  • Communicate with parents
  • Planning Winter Break, Spring Break and Summer Break Camps
  • Assist in 3-5 room as needed
  • Closing duties and cleaning as needed
  • Light Administrative support work
  • Other duties as required
